Today I had the chance to review a new monthly subscription box, My Cotton Bunny. This service is quite a bit different from what I usually receive for subscription boxes. It contains feminine hygiene product for your time of the month! Aka "period" products! Each month you'll receive a box customized to your "bloody" needs! PLUS -- 2 special gifts to give you a little joy and comfort during that dreaded time-of-the-month.
This box is the December box, which contained 1 package of 18 U by Kotex "Click" regular tampons (retail price: $3-6). While 18 tampons for a 5 day period may be suitable for some people, it isn't for me. Normally in the beginning of my period I use super tampons and then as my flow slows down I switch to regular absorbency tampons. With this in mind, I hope/recommend they offer a 2-box deal- such as one box of super tampons and one box of regular tampons. Or, one box of regular tampons and one package of pads.
With this service I believe I shouldn't have to EVERRRR make a trip to the store for tampons or pads, especially with the premium price of $13.75 a month.
What justifies the price of this box for me (at least this month) is the "extras" such as this AWESOME scarf I also received in the box which averages around $10-$40, I made a unboxing YouTube video about 2 hours ago and since putting it on I don't want to take it off!! Another extra special treat/gift that was in the box was 2 sachets of Yogi Calming and Woman's Moon Cycle tea and 1 piece of Dagoba new moon rich dark chocolate, which is about the size of a Ghirardelli square. Chocolate plus period = happy girl! However, it's also a bit of a tease for the possible chocolate-gobbler some ladies may be during those 5 days of the month. I'd recommend 3- 5 individual squares of that chocolate or 2-5 different types or brands of chocolates to try. What happens to the person who doesn't like dark chocolate? :(
Pros:
-Shipping speed
-Convenience
-Receiving special gifts in the mail
-Customer service
-Customizable products sent
-They don't use an excessive amount of tissue paper like some subscription boxes do
Cons:
-Amount of actual "period" product you receive
-Possibility of actually having to go to the STORE to get more product after already paying almost $15 to have it conveniently delivered and taken care of for you
I recommend this service especially to young girls who are going through puberty. This box can show them that periods can be fun and there's nothing to be worried about as far as going out and having to buy their "taboo" products. HOWEVER, this service is still a great gift/box for women of any age with a period.
My overall advice: Take care of "period" needs first and then include "gifts" based on how much more or less of actual tampons/pads are needed.
Example: 1 package tampons, 1 package pads, 1 gift
Example 2: 2 packs of tampons, 1 gift
Example 3: 1 pack of tampons (or pads), 2 gifts
Thank you to the kind and personable staff at My Cotton Bunny for letting me receive this complimentary for review.
